The Bennington Center for the Arts' sales exhibitions include artwork by some of the country's finest representational painters and are constantly changing throughout the season but typically include nature, landscape and still life artwork. The non-profit organization's permanent collections of wildlife art, Native American arts, Eric Sloane paintings and the exquisite bird carvings of Floyd Scholz are available to visitors throughout the year. Concerts and plays can be enjoyed in the Center's 320 seat theater. The Museum of the Covered Bridge, the only museum of its kind, offers exhibits on engineering, construction, tools, legends and creators. Documentaries cover the past and present construction and uses of bridges in Vermont and throughout the world. An interactive kiosk allows for visitors to plan their tour of Vermont's remaining bridges, five of which are nearby in Bennington County. Less than a 25 minute drive from Manchester or Williamstown and a 40-minute drive from Albany, the Center is located on Vermont Route 9 in Bennington, Vt. It is open Wednesday through Sunday 10-5, May through November. Call for winter hours.
